Household incomes average around $76,591 in Douglasville. It's a a smaller city city with about 36,284 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Worth the trade-offs? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Used to live on the Lakewood side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I'm a lawyer and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 3 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Downtown for 1 years. Moved from Nashville for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
education is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is decent - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Limited high-paying job options. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 7/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
