Cost of living reality check -Douglasville

Anyone else feel this way? Born and raised here. Median household income is $76,591, which feels about average for the area. It's a a smaller city city with about 36,284 people. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Does this match your experience? Looking forward to hearing from you all. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 11 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
