Military spouse here. Crime rate is something to consider -Dove Valley sits at 132.1 per 100K. With a population of 5,313, Dove Valley is a small town. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Is this normal for Dove Valley? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The food scene is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely excellent and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Old Town) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The food scene is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely decent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much affordable but now it's tough.
