Curious what people think. Born and raised here. It's a a small town city with about 1,520 people. Household incomes average around $105,536 in Dover Beaches South. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Worth the trade-offs? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Phoenix about 13 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely tough and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
