Is public transit usable in Dover?

Been meaning to ask this. Been living here since 2018. Median household income is $58,336, which feels about average for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. Am I overthinking this? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Bought a house here in 2023 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Boston about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 35, moved here 2 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Property taxes are high
3. The walkability situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

The food scene here is improving. Tons of great seafood places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I'm a nurse and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.
