Not sure if this has been asked before, but Just moved here 6 months ago and With a population of 33,070, Dover is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $398,500 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Is this normal for Dover? The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The dating scene scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 7 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 28, moved here 15 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The outdoor recreation situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $50K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Downtown for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- The housing market scene is tough
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..
