Living in Dover -the reality

Alright, My family moved here when I was a kid. It's a a small town city with about 13,094 people. Rent is about $1,004/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Has anyone dealt with this? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely challenging and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Uptown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
