First post here. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Anyone in a similar situation? Any help is appreciated. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Fairview area are challenging. Kids love it here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is improving in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 57, moved here 12 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Lakewood and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The traffic situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The outdoor recreation scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The walkability is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Austin about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.
