Unpopular opinion about Drexel Hill

Thoughts? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

I work in construction here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is average. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Used to live on the South side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 47, moved here 10 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Fairview and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The safety situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
