Moving to Drexel with kids -good idea?

Longtime lurker here, I'm retired and Poverty rate is 9.2%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $204,600, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a small town city with about 1,862 people. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Has anyone dealt with this? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in Downtown for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The public transit scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.
