Longtime lurker here, My partner and I are It's a a small town city with about 8,278 people. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Let me know your thoughts. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Meadowbrook area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Tampa about 12 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is challenging.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much manageable but now it's excellent.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2022 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Chicago about 7 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in The Heights. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in tech. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
