Random thought, My family moved here when I was a kid. Crime rate is something to consider -Dryden sits at 659.8 per 100K. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I wrong here? The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely tough and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Riverside) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great Vietnamese places. it was the best decision I ever made.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Midtown area are excellent. Kids love it here.
