What to expect moving to Dublin?

Hello, I grew up here but left for a while. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Worth the trade-offs?

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The nightlife is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 50, moved here 4 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Eastside and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Affordable housing options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The nightlife situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for couples. average vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Italian.

No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in South for 11 years. Moved from San Francisco for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Limited high-paying job options. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The weather is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much manageable but now it's excellent.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in marketing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Korean.

No regrets on my end..

I work in marketing here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is better than expected. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
