Just moved here 17 months ago and Homes are going for about $173,500 on average. Median household income is $40,417, which feels on the lower side for the area. The unemployment rate is 4.4%, which is about average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What do you all think? The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Used to live on the Lakewood side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

I'm a data analyst and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in legal. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like seafood.
