Hey folks, We have two kids and The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Used to live on the Maple Ridge side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much growing but now it's hit or miss.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Denver about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 51, moved here 6 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Westside and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The community vibe situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for families. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $100K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
