Longtime lurker here, Born and raised here. Household incomes average around $64,985 in Dubuque. Homes are going for about $193,100 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Let me know your thoughts. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in tech. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Greenfield for 4 years. Moved from Austin for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Can feel isolated. And healthcare can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 9/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
