Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Nashville about 13 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is excellent.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great Thai places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Austin about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 51, moved here 4 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Fairview and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The healthcare situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for families. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The cost of living is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
