Is Duluth good for remote workers?

We have two kids and With a population of 31,958, Duluth is a smaller city. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Worth the trade-offs? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The school system is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- The community vibe scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Westside for 13 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is solid - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Rising rent and home prices. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Came here for school and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The traffic is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. No regrets on my end..
