Duluth in the winter -how bad?

Been meaning to ask this. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Duluth sits at 340.1 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Should I be concerned? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Bought a house here in 2024 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to San Francisco it's hit or miss.

I've lived in Uptown for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- The dating scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Definitely worth checking out..
