Studio apartments in Dumont -options?

Crime rate is something to consider -Dumont sits at 34.0 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,778/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Good schools
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Cold winters
- High property taxes
- Poor road conditions
- Homelessness issues downtown
Worth the trade-offs? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.
