What surprised you most about Duncan?

Random thought, I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $57,020, which feels about average for the area. Poverty rate is 14.1%, which is around average. Homes are going for about $125,800 on average. The median home value here is around $125,800, which is actually reasonable. It's a a small town city with about 22,872 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Friendly people
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Sprawl everywhere
- Not very walkable
- Boring for young people
- Not enough green space

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I work in consulting here and it exceeded my expectations. The job market for my field is better than expected. Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Boston about 11 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..
