Cost of living reality check -Dundalk

Been meaning to ask this. The median home value here is around $199,600, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 65,441, Dundalk is a smaller city. Household incomes average around $62,349 in Dundalk. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Worth the trade-offs? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in tech. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Eastside area are tough. Kids love it here.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The walkability is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..
