Median household income is $86,641, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $208,400 on average. Household incomes average around $86,641 in Dunlap. With a population of 6,602, Dunlap is a small town. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Worth the trade-offs? The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I'm a pharmacist and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Tampa about 9 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Houston about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 2 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
