Is Dunwoody worth moving to in 2026?

Longtime lurker here, My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $579,400, which is pretty steep. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cheers. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Oak Park for 5 years. Moved from Seattle for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Road conditions need improvement. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely underrated and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Springfield) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in construction. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The cultural scene is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.
