Day-to-day life in Durham, CA

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a remote worker and With a population of 6,111, Durham is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,092 for rent here. Poverty rate is 1.1%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Any advice would be great. Appreciate any input. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I've lived in The Heights for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The pet-friendliness scene is decent

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.
