Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Pittsburgh it's better than expected.

I've lived in North for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The job market scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 28, moved here 2 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Property taxes are high
3. The food scene situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for couples. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $80K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much competitive but now it's average.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..
