Is Dutch Island walkable?

Alright, Average temperature is around 68--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $185,750, which feels pretty solid for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I wrong here? TIA! The weather takes some getting used to.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 13 years. Moved from Denver for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is solid - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Road conditions need improvement. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Eastside for 3 years. Moved from Phoenix for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is average - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Far from beaches/mountains. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 5/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Oak Park area are solid. Kids love it here.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Minneapolis about 10 years ago. The main reasons were school and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
