Hello, The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $288,700 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. Any advice would be great. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I've lived in Springfield for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- The weather scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2023 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Miami about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.
