Anyone else love living in Eagan?

Been living here since 2022. Rent is about $1,604/month for a decent place. Median household income is $107,486, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 68,158, Eagan is a smaller city. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Eagan sits at 58.4 per 100K. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Low taxes
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Rising rent prices
- Sprawl everywhere
- Poor road conditions
- Limited cultural events
What would you do? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The school system is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The cost of living is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 3 years. Moved from Chicago for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Far from beaches/mountains. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 13 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The safety scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 1 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
