Rent in Eagan getting crazy

Curious what people think. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Crime rate is something to consider -Eagan sits at 58.4 per 100K. The median home value here is around $380,800, which seems about average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts? Thanks for reading.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Meadowbrook for 4 years. Moved from Atlanta for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Dating scene is rough. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in consulting. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from San Diego about 5 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. No regrets on my end..
