Hello, We have two kids and It's a a small town city with about 2,890 people. Average temperature is around 49--F, so expect cold winters. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Does this match your experience? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Southern.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is decent in most areas.

I've lived in Eastside for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is tough
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
