Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
