Relocating to Eagle, ID -pros and cons?

Just moved here 5 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Eagle sits at 661.8 per 100K. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think? The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I work in consulting here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 2 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Westside for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- The walkability scene is tough

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Eastside area are better than expected. Kids love it here.
