Random thought, You can expect to pay around $794 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Eagle Pass sits at 124.0 per 100K. Household incomes average around $54,952 in Eagle Pass. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely average and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (The Heights) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Midtown area are tough. Kids love it here.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is community vibe. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Springfield) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
