I've been here for 19 years and Median household income is $54,952, which feels on the lower side for the area. The median home value here is around $192,600, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Eagle Pass sits at 124.0 per 100K. With a population of 28,186, Eagle Pass is a smaller city. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here?

I've lived in Uptown for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- The outdoor recreation scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Italian.
No regrets on my end..

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.
