So, Median household income is $69,766, which feels about average for the area. It's a a small town city with about 1,145 people. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cheers. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Miami about 2 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

I've lived in Eastside for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- The dating scene scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 10 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Minneapolis it's solid.

I've lived in East for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
- The public transit scene is solid
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
