What I wish I knew before living in East Bakersfield

Hey, I work in finance and The unemployment rate is 7.5%, which is concerning. Poverty rate is 35.6%, which is higher than I expected. With a population of 10,377, East Bakersfield is a small town. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Does this match your experience? Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Southern places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
