Is public transit usable in East Chicago?
I relocated for work and Poverty rate is 23.9%, which is higher than I expected. Crime rate is something to consider -East Chicago sits at 725.2 per 100K. Homes are going for about $92,400 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.
