Best hidden gems in East Farmingdale

Hello, We're a young couple and Rent is about $2,131/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -East Farmingdale sits at 22.0 per 100K. Poverty rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $109,531, which feels pretty solid for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Close to nature
- Lots of new development
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Sprawl everywhere
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Chain restaurants dominate
What are your go-to spots? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely excellent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Midtown area are average. Kids love it here.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The safety is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
