Job market in East Grand Rapids for tech?

Hey, Born and raised here. Homes are going for about $488,500 on average. Rent is about $1,845/month for a decent place. Median household income is $168,487, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -East Grand Rapids sits at 33.2 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Is this normal for East Grand Rapids? From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 14 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into running, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.
