Longtime lurker here, I'm a college student here and Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $66,943 in East Hartford. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- The nightlife scene is solid
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..
