Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -East Hartford sits at 152.5 per 100K. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I wrong here?

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Downtown for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cultural scene scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The school system is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.
