What East Hartford does better than anywhere else

Hey folks, I'm a 22-year-old firefighter and Poverty rate is 11.2%, which is around average. The median home value here is around $215,400, which is actually reasonable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely challenging and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Fairview) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Greenfield area are better than expected. Kids love it here.
