I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The weather is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 13 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into running, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in retail. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much wild but now it's surprisingly good.
