Curious what people think. I'm originally from San Francisco and With a population of 50,961, East Honolulu is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $1,172,300 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in The Heights area are challenging. Kids love it here.

I'm a electrician and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 1 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
