East Honolulu in the winter -how bad?

First post here. I've been here for 2 years and Household incomes average around $158,398 in East Honolulu. Homes are going for about $1,172,300 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -East Honolulu sits at 232.1 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 50,961 people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks in advance! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 13 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2021 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The healthcare is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
