Thinking about relocating to East Honolulu from San Francisco

Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -East Honolulu sits at 232.1 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $3,249 for rent here. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. TIA! The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from San Diego about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I work in education here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is challenging. Feel free to reach out with questions..
