What's it really like living in East Honolulu?

First post here. I'm a teacher here and Rent is about $3,249/month for a decent place. Median household income is $158,398, which feels pretty solid for the area. Household incomes average around $158,398 in East Honolulu. Homes are going for about $1,172,300 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Growing food scene
- Lots of new development
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Not very walkable
- Homelessness issues downtown
People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.
