Moving to East Islip -what should I know?

Longtime lurker here, I'm a remote worker and With a population of 13,687, East Islip is a small town. The unemployment rate is 0.9%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 13,687 people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Moved here from Austin about 11 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to job market but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
