Unpopular opinion about East Islip

I relocated for work and Homes are going for about $577,600 on average. The median home value here is around $577,600, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $146,890 in East Islip. With a population of 13,687, East Islip is a small town. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Houston it's hit or miss.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
